The Office of Public Affairs and Strategic Development has three main missions:
- It represents and promotes the University, and its faculty, students, programs, and policies to a variety of stakeholders, including the general public, the media, the federal and local governments, and the neighboring communities.
- It participates in University-wide management, strategic planning, community building, and emergency preparedness and response.
- It works with President DeGioia and University stakeholders to identify and develop new initiatives, programs, partnerships, capacities and relationships to carry forward Georgetown's mission.

- Communications
The Office of Communications represents and promotes the University and its faculty, students, programs, and policies through media relations, the creation of communications materials, issues management, and the execution of high-level events. - External Relations
The Office of External Relations serves as the University's primary liaison to the neighborhoods surrounding the University and the Washington, D.C. community including the Mayor, City Council, business associations, government officials and agencies. - Federal Relations
The Office of Federal Relations serves the University community as the primary liaison to the federal government. The office's mission is to provide advocacy on behalf of the University on issues pertaining to higher education, in particular those affecting our students, faculty, and staff. - Strategic Development
The Office of Strategic Development participates in University-wide initiatives while providing advice to University units on their own strategic development.
