Daily Habits
● Conserve energy, paper towels, water, and other resources.
● Consume as much locally and organically grown food as possible.
● Learn correct recycling procedures and recycle properly.
● Remove transformers from sockets when they are not in use every day.
● Turn off all computers, printers, lights, etc. when they are not in use every day.
● Use as little wasteful packaging as possible.
● Use ecologically sound office, cleaning and other supplies.
Dining, Parties, Receptions
● Use a reusable drink mug instead of disposable cups and glasses.
● If you must use throwaway dinnerware, use recyclable and compostable dinnerware.
Travel in General
● Bicycle or walk to your destination when possible.
● Car pool when possible.
● Pool your errands when using a vehicle.
● Use airplanes as little as possible because they can be much more polluting per mile than cars or trains.
Vacation, Pleasure Trips
Environmentally friendly and savvy travelers can make an important difference over time.
● Bicycle or walk to your destination when possible.
● Buy locally grown food in places where it is safe to eat.
● Go to local vacation spots.
● Never purchase clothing, crafts, furniture, or other products derived from protected species and endangered species.
● Patronize green companies such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, tour guides, and travel agencies that promote energy and fuel efficiency, less packaging, recyling, renewable energy, and other forms of environmental protection.
● Request that fresh hotel linens and towels not be provided everyday.
● Skip fuel-guzzling activities such as hot tubs, snowmobiling, water-biking, or enjoy them infrequently.
● Skip four-wheeling which can harm fragile habitats.
● Stay on designated trails; do not bother organisms.
● Travel less often and stay longer instead of taking multiple short trips.
