Register for 'Spiritual Space and the Spirit of Place'

The American Institute of Architects and the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture present: Spiritual Space and the Spirit of Place – Pietro Belluschi and the Northwest.

Excerpt from the website:

“…This conference will focus on the creation of contemporary religious places that respond to cultural, contextual, traditional, and spiritual forces. Belluschi’s work will be the center, bracketed by his early churches and his post-MIT churches. We will also view this work within the context of Northwest regional influences and contemporary spiritual examples by current generations of local architects.

Speakers will include prominent Portland architects who were once his students or collaborators as well as other Belluschi experts. The group will visit Belluschi-designed churches and a prize-winning contemporary example that exhibits both regional and Belluschi influences. The program also will include tours of local places of interest and an optional post-conference trip to Mount Angel Abbey Library—one of only two buildings that Alvar Aalto designed in the United States.”

When: August 15-17, 2007
Where: Portland, Oregon
