EnVisionChurch: A Year in Review

July 15, 2008

The staff at the Georgetown Center for Liturgy had been preparing EnVisionChurch for its official launch for over a year before its debut in June of 2007. But as prepared as EnVisionChurch was, the staff had no idea what to actually expect once it became available to the rest of the world. Fortunately, any concerns we might have had never materialized and our best hopes became a reality.

Today, EnVisionChurch has over 2500 registered members and is viewed on a monthly basis by people in over 30 countries. And from these members, we receive numerous emails expressing appreciation for the site or telling us how the site helped guide them through matters related to the design and use of worship spaces.

Along with the support EnVisionChurch receives from its visitors, we are indebted to the more than 80 authors that have contributed over 200 articles to the site. Their reflections, insights, and practical ideas are invaluable.

The Georgetown Center for Liturgy would not have been able to launch EnVisionChurch and continually maintain and enhance the site without the financial support of Anne Elizon Brown and many other Center benefactors, and the professional service providers listed in the Catalog of Professionals. The Center staff is deeply grateful for their friendship and generosity.  You, too, can help support the mission of EnVisionChurch with a financial gift. Click here to learn more.

The support EnVisionChurch receives enables the Center for Liturgy to carry out its mission of working for a transformed church through a renewed liturgy, which it does by providing information on the building and renovation of worship spaces, religious/liturgical art, seasonal environment, liturgy and spirituality. As such, the Center staff continuously works at promoting the site, believing in its value to parish and diocesan leaders, professional service providers, educators, and many others. In this past year, for example, we attended several different conferences (e.g. LA Congress, Form/Reform, Southwest Liturgical conference, etc), contacted numerous diocesan offices, parishes, and various religious organizations, and even created an informational video about the site.

Given the success of the past year and the knowledge obtained over that time, we are focusing on ways to expand EnVisionChurch’s outreach and impact.  We look forward to our members continuing support and contributions during this time of growth and discovery.
