Brief Description: "The vessels were designed for "World Youth Day". The mandate I received was to come up with a design that is typically Australian! I chose the gum tree as the symbol, creating an unbroken circle illustrating first the bud, then the full gum blossom and then the empty gum nut and back to the bud - the whole life cycle: birth, fullness of life, death, resurrection." The vessels are made of silver and the leaves, etc. are made in gold with tiny diamonds on the tips of the gum blossoms.
Artist Info: The monstrance was designed by Dorothy Woodward, and made by W.J. Sanders factory, Marrickville, NSW, while the adornments were crafted at Nick Cerrones Jewellers of Leichardt, NSW.
