What do you regard as your greatest academic success?
The creation of the Children’s Digital Media Center.

What is your idea of happiness?
Being on top of a mountain with a wide vista or looking out over the ocean from a cliff.

Who or what was the greatest influence in your life that led to your career?
Aletha Huston, who is my academic mentor, and my dad.

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?
I would stop to smell the roses more often.

What do you enjoy about teaching?
Curious students engaged in learning.

Who are your favorite heroes/heroines in real life (and why)?
Elizabeth Cady Stanton because she devoted much of her life to getting women the right to vote. George Washington because he devoted his life to our country. Both made sacrifices for the greater good. We are the people we are today because they made major sacrifices on our behalf.

Who is your favorite musician?
Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Stevie Nicks.

Who is your favorite thinker?
Alexander Hamilton.

What historical figure would you most like to meet and why?
Leonardo da Vinci because he was so curious and innovative.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I would make the world peaceful and green.

If you could change one thing at Georgetown, what would it be?
Space, Space, and More Space!!!

If you could come back to life as a plant/animal/thing, what would it be?
A black panther or a red-tailed hawk.

What is your favorite word?
Freedom.

What, if any, is your phobia?
Snakes.

How do you have fun?
I play tennis.

What is the best piece of advice you could give to your students?
Be curious and be very bold.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Work hard.

What is your motto?
Live every moment to the fullest.
