Insight: Professor Edward Van Keuren

If you could have dinner with a famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
There are a lot of people that I think would be really cool to talk to. I would love to sit with some great men like Einstein and John Paul II. It would be awesome to get their take on some modern-day science questions.

What is your favorite thing about Georgetown?
Definitely the students. They are so excited about stuff and so easy to talk to. There is so much diversity here—a wide-ranging set of beliefs and interests is what makes this student body so special.

Do you have a non-science related favorite book?
I typically only read non-science books because I get enough of the science at work. I don’t know if I have a favorite, but I am reading Les Misérables right now.

If you were not a physics professor, what would you be doing and why?
Both of my parents are teachers, so I would probably still be teaching in either a middle school or high school. Like I said, I never planned on coming into academia, but I guess I’m genetically hard-wired to it.
