Jerome Butcher-Green (C'07)
Butcher-Green (C ‘07), has been involved in the CAARS project with Dr. Blake since its inception. Currently, Butcher-Green is working on the Java code for the training sub-system, which is the part that will be used to train new assembly line employees. He also built the initial version of the workflow sub-system, which coordinates the communication of data between the several sub-systems involved in the project.
Butcher-Green, who came to Georgetown as a football recruit, has co-authored two papers with Blake: one at the IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technology (ICALT2006) and one in review at the International Conference on Intelligent Agent Technology (IAT2006).
For Butcher-Green, a highlight of working with Dr. Blake is that he “gives us real world projects and a lot of freedom to complete them ourselves.” The CAARS project is particularly exciting to him because “The ability to have the computing power of a Pentium processor informing you about the world around you will take learning to a level we’ve never seen before.”
Butcher-Green, citing travel as his “second passion,” hopes to land “a consulting job that involves traveling around the world” after he completes his degree at Georgetown.
As for ultimate dreams, Butcher-Green “would love to do make lots of money and retire at 30, but if that doesn’t work out,” he intends to live “a comfortable life in Miami.”
