Max Kade Professor
Prof. Dr. Hans-Michael Speier (Spring 2012)
Hans-Michael Speier, a poet, translator, and literary scholar, will be the Max Kade Professor at Georgetown for the spring 2012 Semester. Speier, founder and publisher of the literary magazine PARK: Zeitschrift für neue Literatur, won the A und A Kulturstiftung literary prize in 2011. He has published numerous anthologies and translated modern English, French, and Italian poetry. In addition to founding PARK, Speier also established the Paul-Celan-Jahrbuch. His own lyric poetry has appeared in eight volumes and over 30 anthologies and has been translated into seven languages. In 2007 he received the Schiller Award.
