CR Students to Present Papers at Queen's University Mitchell Conference

Conflict Resolution students Jason Klocek and Michelle Scanlon will travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland on May 22nd to present papers at the Queen's University Mitchell Conference, in honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Klocek's paper is titled "A Politics of Forgiveness for Intractable Conflicts: The Role of Middle-Range, Religious Actors in the Northern Ireland Conflict."  

Scanlon's paper is titled "Which Comes First? Identity, Politics and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland."

Both students are receiving funding to participate in the conference through a partnership between the Georgetown Conflict Resolution program and Queen's University.  The event will attract high-level policymakers, politicians and academics to reflect on progress since the agreement, challenges that remain and lessons for and from other conflict regions.
