Department of History Welcomes New Faculty Members

Katherine Benton-Cohen will join the history department this coming fall. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and has been teaching for several years at Louisiana State University. She will teach courses on the history of women and gender and the U.S. West. Prof. Benton-Cohen is currently completing a book entitled, Borderline Americans: Making Racial Division on the Arizona Borderlands, for Harvard University Press.

Dr. Aparna Vaidik (Ph.D. Jawaharlal Nehru University) will join the history Georgetown History Department in August. She will teach courses on the history of South Asian and the Indian Ocean world. Her current research project is a multi-faceted history of the Andaman Islands in the contexts of colonial India and the Indian Ocean world.
