George Vrtis (PhD 2006) Named 2007 Glassman Award Recipient

Congratulations to George Vrtis (PhD 2006), who has been named the 2007 recipient of Georgetown University's Harold N. Glassman Dissertation Award in the Humanities. George's dissertation, "The Front Range of the Rocky Mountains: An Environmental History, 1700-1900" earned him high praise from the Glassman awards committee. George's work was singled out for its "clear and graceful prose," its "use of evidence from the natural and social sciences," and its "smooth and compelling narrative of two hundred years of radical environmental and social change."

George Vrtis has just completed his first year of teaching at Carleton College in Minnesota, where he is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Technologies and History. Congratulations George!
