Regional Distribution of Courses for the History Major
The Department of History offers courses in seven world regions. History majors are required to choose one region from Group A (Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East) and one region from Group B (Europe, Russia/Eastern Europe, U.S.), and take three courses in one of the two chosen regions and four in the other of the two chosen regions. Below is a listing of courses under each region. There are a number of courses that are interregional and can be applied to one of two or more regions. Australian/NZ and Caribbean courses can fit into two regions (the former in AS or EU, the latter in LA or US).
The list below, which is revised ahead of each semester, includes courses offered in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010, plus a few courses that are offered on a regular rotation. If you have questions please contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Tommaso Astarita (7-5860; ICC 621: astaritt@georgetown.edu).
