Georgetown University’s Department of Linguistics invites applications for a one-year visiting position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2008. Candidates should have an active research program and be able to teach classes in one or more of the following areas: bilingualism, second language acquisition, materials preparation, classroom discourse and interaction, language assessment. Teaching load will be 2/3 (one of these courses will be a graduate seminar in the visitor’s area of specialization). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the professional and intellectual life of the department and to work closely with graduate students. Ph.D. by time of appointment required. Competitive salary; relocation/conference travel allowance; and department-funded graduate assistant.
Applicants should provide a CV, a representative research sample, evidence of teaching ability, and two to three letters of recommendation. These should be submitted together in one mail package.
