"The Oxford Handbook of Animal Ethics," Co-Edited by Tom Beauchamp and R. G. Frey, Has Recently Been Published
November 6, 2011
Tom Beauchamp, Professor of Philosophy and Senior Research Scholar in the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, has joined with R.G. Frey to edit and publish The Oxford Handbook of Animal Ethics, an important new collection of essays. The Handbook, to which Tom and Bryce Huebner, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, also contributed essays, deals with many ethical issues, such as the ethics of animal usage in circuses, zoos, animal products, and medical testing. The publication of this collection happens to coincide with Tom receiving a grant from the National Science Foundation to write, edit, and publish a volume that provides guidance for policymakers, institutional representatives, educators, investigators, and reviewers in the treatment of animals in scientific research; you can read more about the grant here.
The Department wishes to congratulate Tom on both of these extraordinary achievements.
