SOCI 296-299: Research Seminars
These courses are once-weekly seminars, meeting for 2-1/2 hours, and limited to 15 students, mainly majors and minors. Each seminar is conceived to be a special, deeper, and/or more nuanced version of an already existing departmental course. The content of each approved seminar is left open to the discretion of the professor, with the exception that each such course must entail a major research paper of at least 20 pages. A student who has taken the “regular,” less-advanced version of such a course certainly has the right to take the corresponding Research Seminar and may well be a prime candidate for it.
All sociology majors are urged to take at least one such Seminar prior to the term in which they write the senior thesis. Fall and/or Spring.
