The Existential Phenomenology of Clarice Lispector

The Existential Phenomenology of Clarice Lispector
Talk by Professor Michael Marder, Ikerbasque Research Professor of Philosophy, University of the Basque Country, Vitoria-Gasteiz
Tuesday, January 24, 5-6pm, Carn Barn 309
------
Clarice Lispector’s narrative is a literary enactment of phenomenology at the limit, an attempt at reimagining the world from non-adult and other-than-human points of view. We will pay particular attention to the metamorphoses in the perception of time, space, and life, entailed in such enactment. Finally, we will interpret “passion” in terms of the existential intensity, built into the transformation of experience as it departs from its human modality.
