Prof. Rappaport awarded the 2013 Bryce Wood Book Prize
Prof. Joanne Rappaport and her co-author Tom Cummins have been awarded the 2013 Bryce Wood Book Prize by the Latin American Studies Association for Beyond the Lettered City: Indigenous Literacies in the Andes, recipient. The award committee was chaired by Professor Laurence Whitehead, Oxford University. Other members of the committee were Tulia Falleti, University of Pennsylvania; Paul Gootenberg, Stony Brook University; Mary Kay Vaughan, University of Maryland – College Park; Doris Sommer, Harvard University; Rosario Espinal, Temple University; and Andrew Schrank, University of New Mexico.
The award will be presented in the Welcoming Reception and Awards Ceremony of the Association's XXXI International Congress, Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Georgetown University – Washington DC. The Congress itself runs from Wednesday May 29 through Saturday June 1.
