Services for Resources : Place a Book on Hold

You can place a hold on a book that is checked out so that you receive an e-mail when the book is returned to the Library:

1. Using GEORGE, find the record for the book you would like to check out.

2. Click on the Request button at the top or bottom of the screen.

3. Enter your last name and your GOCard number (9-digit number on the front of your Georgetown University GOCard beginning with "8") or library barcode.

4. When the book is returned, you will be contacted by e-mail to pick it up. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the book will be returned on time.
Requests submitted Saturday and Sunday will be processed on  the next business day.

Note: You must be a registered Georgetown University Library borrower to place holds on books.

If you need help reading the GEORGE record of a book or have other questions about the location of a book, go to the Client Services Desk.

If you have any questions about your request, please e-mail the Client Services staff.
