The School of Medicine requires students to own a PDA beginning in the last quarter of second year.  To ensure the uniformity of hardware and software, the School arranges a bulk purchase of PDAs and distributes the units to the class. The cost of the device and its peripherals are included in the mandatory student technology fee. Entering students are advised to keep this in mind when deciding whether to purchase a PDA prior to the school's distribution. There will be no reductions in the technology fee due to prior purchases.

About PACE

The Georgetown University School of Medicine’s Patient And Clinical Encounter (PACE) system enables medical students to log patient encounters efficiently in real time during their clinical clerkships. This PDA- and Web-based system replaces traditional paper methods of collecting patient encounter information.
