President's Message

December, 2007

Dear Colleague:

I extend a warm welcome to you as you join the Georgetown University community. It is a great pleasure to have you on campus, and I hope very much that you will find your work here deeply rewarding. The time and talents of Georgetown’s staff are critically important to the University’s standing among the nation’s leading institutions of higher education, and I am grateful that you have become part of this important shared enterprise.

As you begin your new role, this Handbook provides an overview of your rights and responsibilities as an employee and the conditions and benefits of employment at Georgetown. More detailed information is available in the Human Resources Policy Manual, on the Georgetown University Web site, and from the departments mentioned in this Handbook.

I encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns you have about your employment with your immediate supervisor. Human Resources Department staff members are also available to assist you.

You have my very best wishes.

Sincerely,

John J. DeGioia
