Information Sources

The University communicates news and other information to its employees through printed materials, broadcast e-mail and voice mail messages, town hall meetings, online content and other methods. A few notable tools are listed below. Please note that these are subject to change at any time.

Georgetown Web Site: www.georgetown.edu

The University’s Web site houses a wealth of information on Georgetown’s departments, offices, academic programs, policies, events, and initiatives. Top institutional pages are administered by the University webmaster, while sites of individual departments are administered and updated by the department staff.

Broadcast E-mail

Announcements of interest to a wide audience typically are sent via broadcast e-mail. These messages must be approved by the vice president or other senior-level administrator with jurisdiction over the content area covered in the message. To learn about the policies for sending broadcast messages, visit http://broadcast.georgetown.edu.

Blue & Gray Newspaper

As the University’s biweekly newspaper for faculty and staff, Blue & Gray covers news to inform Georgetown’s employees about their colleagues and workplace. News, features, announcements, calendar listings, and other items are published in the newspaper and distributed to offices (enough for each employee in the office) and in bulk to racks in many buildings on the University’s campuses. Blue & Gray is a publication of the University’s communications department.

Access+

Georgetown’s Access+ system provides secure access to up-to-date information in four categories: Employee Access, Faculty Access, Student Access and Financial Access. Employee Access+ enables employees to view specific, personal information on topics such as their payroll history, job and salary, benefits, and paid leave. Financial Access enables employees with budget responsibilities to track their cost centers. Employees must use their NetID and password to logon to the systems. Visit http://limited.georgetown.edu/access.
