Prayer is a waste of time. The incarnate form of our prayer may be concerned with getting something done, forwarding our plans and the generosity of God is such that he will let himself be incarnate even in these ways. But the heart of prayer is not getting something done. It is a waste of time, an even greater waste of time than play…For a real absolute waste of time you have to go to prayer.”
