Prayer in Daily Life Retreat
What is the Prayer in Daily Life Retreat?
The Prayer in Daily Life Retreat is a week-long interfaith opportunity to nurture and discover our inner voices through prayer. Prayer is one of the many ways we can enhance the spiritual dimension of life. Reflection, silence, and prayer are essential as we seek to nurture an awareness of the Spirit in each of us. The retreat features individually directed prayer and reflection with a dialy time commitment of one half hour prayer and a daily session with your spiritual guide.
Method
The practice of guiding others through their prayer experience as they meditate on the Word of God through scripture or other sacred texts is called "spiritual direction." It is not counseling, pycho-therapy, or direct problem solving, although participants often do come into the retreat with a particular concern for which they seek guidance. Whether focusing upon one's general relationship with God or upon a particular issue, participants often do feel the Spirit's guidance and peace within their lives.
Scheduling
The Prayer in Daily Life Retreat is designed to fit into your schedule; the very idea behind the retreat is finding a time for the Spirit within everyday life. The retreat experience requires participation in the Opening and Closing sessions. They are intended to familiarize the participants with important aspects of this type of retreat, setting the tone for the week and helping harvest the benefits of the experience, respectively. The Opening takes place on Sunday from 1:00 -3:00pm and the Closing is on Friday from 5:30 - 7:30pm. Both take place in the Chapel of St. Thomas More. Your spiritual guide will be with you at each of these. The dialy half hour sessions are scheduled direcly with your spiritual advisor and timing is flexible.
