Meet the DYNAMIC ESCAPE TEAM
ESCAPE team leadership is extremely rewarding, empowering and fun. Team leaders serve as "staff" of the ESCAPE Program.
The major duties of an ESCAPE team leader include:
Attending TWO overnight ESCAPE experiences as a leader per semester
Sharing in the duties of running an ESCAPE overnight and facilitating small group reflection
Recruitment responsibilities and finding new and creative ways to attract first-year students to the program
Attending a team leader meeting and dinner once a semester
Preparing and giving a personal reflection on an ESCAPE overnight
Keeping in regular contact with the ESCAPE Director
Being knowledgeable about Jesuit education and its merits
Being open to personal and group reflection and committing yourself to reflecting outside of ESCAPE overnights
Creating an environment of hospitality and friendship on campus and on the overnight experiences
Making new friends and getting to know other team leaders
Having fun
Each year, several Georgetown students apply for 50 or so spots as a student team leader. With the exception of a small ESCAPE staff, the ESCAPE experience is almost completely staffed by students. The team leader experience is one of the most rewarding aspects of student life on The Hilltop. We accept applications from ALL current rising Sophomore, Junior and Senior Georgetown students. Previous participation in ESCAPE (i.e. attending ESCAPE your first-year) is NOT a requirement for applying for the program. All GU students are given equal consideration.
Team Leader applications for the 2008-2009 academic year are available HERE. The application deadline is Tuesday, March 25, 2008, but early applications are appreciated. 3. If you are invited to interview for an ESCAPE team leader position you will be contacted by a member of the ESCAPE staff by March 27. Please be as flexible as possible with interview date and times.
Help continue the legacy...apply to be a Team XVIII leader today!
If you have any questions about ESCAPE team leadership please contact Ethan DeCoster, Director of the ESCAPE First-Year Experience at emd39@georgetown.edu
