Affiliated Protestant Ministries
In Fall 2006, Vice President for Mission and Ministry Rev. Philip Boroughs appointed an Advisory Committee on Protestant Ministry, to examine resources and structures of Georgetown's Protestant Ministry and assist the Office of Campus Ministry in designing a future model to serve the needs of Protestant students.
The recommendations of the committee and Rev. Boroughs response can be found in the letters and documents below:
- Announcement of Georgetown University Advisory Committee on Protesant Ministries - This press release from Rev. Phil Boroughs, S.J. descibred the formation of the Advisory Committee including both the purpose and the members of the committee.
- Letter from Dr. Terrence Reynolds, Chair the Advisory Committee on Protestant Ministry - This letter outlines the recommendations for the Committee's changes and enhancements to Protestant Ministry at Georgetown.
- Letter from Rev. Phil Boroughs, S.J. to University Community - This letter accepts the recommendations of the committee and provides information on the University's implementation plans.
The documents below reflect new organizational structures resulting from the Committee's work:
- Organizing Committee for the Council of Affiliated Protestant Ministries - This interim committee will work during the summer of 2007 to create the policies and procedures that will guide application to Affiliated Ministry status, and to create the organizational framework for the Council of Affiliated Protestant Ministries.
- Council of Affiliated Protestant Ministries - This self-governing council will provide a forum for communication and collaboration between affiliated Protestant Ministries and with the Protestant Chaplaincy.
- Protestant Student Forum - The Protestant Student Forum (PSF) will be created, replacing the current Protestant Student Association and including student representatives all Protestant groups that work with Campus Ministry. Group members will gather to share plans, meet each other, and plan joint events.
- Covenant Agreement of the Affiliated Protestant Ministries of the Georgetown University Campus Ministry (.pdf) - This revised document outlines the rights, privileges and expectations of Georgetown University's Affiliated Protestant Ministry status.
