In order to apply through Georgetown University, you must be a current Georgetown senior, a Georgetown alum planning to begin graduate school next Fall, or a current Georgetown graduate student in the first year of your graduate program.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree and must have an outstanding undergraduate record.
  • Candidates must not support, advocate or uphold the principles and doctrines of Communism.

Georgetown University Application Process:

Submit the following items via email to the Office of Fellowships & Awards at gufa@georgetown.edu:

  • Application Forms (if the application form pdf doesn't open, hit Refresh after the page has stopped loading)
  • 3-page Statement of Purpose
  • 2 Academic Letters of Recommendation (your recommenders can email this to Ms. Henson at gufa@georgetown.edu. If you are selected as a university nominee, we will need to obtain these letters in hard copy, on letterhead from your recommenders.)
  • Curriculum Vitae (or an elaborated resume-- i.e. not the short, one pager you would use to apply for a job. But no longer than 2 pages.)
  • Unofficial transcripts (both your undergraduate and graduate transcripts. If you are selected as one of the university's nominees, we will need to obtain official copies of these transcripts.)
  • GRE/LSAT/GMAT/MCAT scores (electronic or paper copy to Ms. Henson. These can be unofficial for the internal process, but if you are selected as a university nominee, we will need an official document with these scores.)

The applications will be reviewed by a University Committee. The University Committee will nominate up to three candidates. Please contact Ms. Maryam Henson if you have questions that remain unanswered even after carefully reviewing all material on this webpage.

Deadlines:

  • Georgetown University Deadline: November 5, 2012. For this deadline you do not need a letter from the Department Chair or Dean of your Graduate School (requirement 3 in the application above). At Georgetown this letter is provided by the University Fellowship Secretary after you receive university nomination. You also do not need to supply any tax information for the internal process-- if you are selected as a university nominee, you will be required to provide these documents.
  • Final Application: January 21, 2013.
