Luce Scholars Program
The Luce Scholars Program (www.hluce.org) provides stipends and internships for eighteen young Americans to live and work in East and Southeast Asia each year. The program seeks to increase awareness of Asia among future leaders in American society. The Luce Scholars Program stresses personal and work experience rather than academics and consists of one year of professional apprenticeship in the Far East.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be American citizens
- Applicants are ineligible if they have had significant prior exposure to East and Southeast Asia Studies.
- Applicants should be seniors or recent alumni, but must not be older than 29 when the program begins.
Georgetown University Application Process:
Please contact Ms. Maryam Mohamed at the Office of Fellowships to obtain an application form. This application form will include--
- Biographic information form
- Personal statement
- Official Transcripts
- Four letters of recommendation
- Two recent passport sized photos
- Address information card
The University will nominate up to three candidates to the Henry Luce Foundation. The Luce Foundation interviews applicants, selecting 15 winners from a group of 45 finalists. For more information please contact Ms. Maryam Mohamed.
