Mehran Kamrava Chosen as SFS-Q Interim Dean
Mehran Kamrava, director of the Doha campus’ Center for International and Regional Studies, has been named interim dean of SFS-Qatar. “I am honored by this appointment, and confident that we will continue the tradition of excellence for which this institution has become justifiably famous,” he remarked. Kamrava is a leading expert on the politics of Iran and the Middle East. He joined SFS-Qatar in 2007 as a visiting professor. Prior to Georgetown, Kamrava served as professor and chair of the political science department at California State University, Northridge.
In addition to numerous scholarly articles and edited volumes, Kamrava is the author of nine books, the most recent of which is Iran’s Intellectual Revolution (Cambridge University Press, 2008). He has a B.A. in political science and history from California State University, Northridge, and a Ph.D in social and political sciences from the University of Cambridge. He is currently researching the new roles of Qatar and Saudi Arabia in Middle Eastern diplomacy.
