Directions

CSS is located in the Mortara Building at 3600 N Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007. It is two blocks southeast of the main campus entrance of the university (Click here for Georgetown University Campus Map).

Walking from the Main Entrance

From the Main Entrance at 37th and O Streets, NW, walk one block south on 37th Street to N Street. Turn left on N Street and walk up the south side of N Street past the row houses. The Mortara Building is the last building on the northeast corner of the block. A sign next to the doors indicates the entrance to CSS. Proceed to the lower level.

Walking from the Leavey Center

From the foot of the steps to the Leavey Center, walk southeast down the footpath past the Reiss Science Building (on the right), under the Intercultural Center archway and across the red brick "square." Continue southeast through the front lawn area to the Main Entrance gates. Walk one block south down 37th Street to N Street. Go left on N Street and walk up the south side of N Street past the row houses. The Mortara Building is the last building on the northeast corner of the block. A sign next to the doors indicates the entrance to CSS. Proceed to the lower level.

Metro from the Red Line

Take the Red Line to Dupont Circle. Exit via the Q Street (north) entrance. Upon exiting, turn to the left and head south on 20th Street. At the first intersection, turn right and cross 20th Street. The stop for the free Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) bus is about 15 yards down Massachusetts Avenue, directly in front of the Kossuth House. Take the GUTS bus to its only and final destination, the Kober Cogan Building (Click here for the Dupont Circle GUTS schedule).  From the shuttle stop, turn right down Tondorf Road and follow it briefly until the footpath veers left.  This path takes you to the foot of the Leavey Center steps. Follow the directions from the Leavey Center above.

Metro from the Blue and Orange Lines

Take the Blue or Orange Lines to Rosslyn. At the top of the escalator stairs, make a U-turn and walk out to the street. Turn left and head down North Moore Street to the first intersection. Cross 19th Street - the stop for the free Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle is right there at the intersection of 19th and North Moore (Click here for the Rosslyn GUTS schedule).

The GUTS bus will drop you off on a footpath that runs between Reynolds and Wolfington Halls. Walk in the direction of these two buildings and remain on the path, which eventually becomes Library Walk, all the way to the steps descending from Lauinger Library to street level. Head down the steps, which bring you to the intersection of 37th and N Streets.  Walk up the south side of N Street past the row houses.  The Mortara Building is the last building on the northeast corner of the block.  A sign next to the doors indicates the entrance to CSS. Proceed to the lower level.

Parking

Free parking spaces may be available on the streets around in the vicinity of the Mortara Building. Parking is unrestricted for DC Zone 2 permit holders. For those without a Zone 2 permit, two hour parking is permitted on the streets. For visits under two hours in duration, this is the most convenient way to park.

The university’s Southwest Garage is accessible via the Canal Road Entrance. Payment (Click here for visitor parking rates) is due, in cash only, upon entrance, based on an estimated time of duration in the garage. The GPS/GoogleMaps address for the Canal Road Entrance is 3613 Canal Road, NW, Washington, DC 20007. Upon exiting the Southwest Garage on foot and reaching ground level, please follow the directions found above for the Blue and Orange Lines, as the elevators and stairs from the garage bring you to the same general area as the Rosslyn GUTS bus.

Note: There are additional parking garages off of Reservoir Road. These garages, however, belong to Georgetown University Hospital and the Georgetown University Hotel & Conference Center and are not owned by the University. Rates for these garages may be significantly higher, and they are located across the campus from the Mortara Building.

Taxi

Request 3600 N Street, NW, rather than Georgetown University more generally. There are several entrances to the university, only one of which is relatively close to the Mortara Building.
