Statement of Purpose

A 500-700 word typewritten statement of purpose must be included with the application. This is the opportunity for the applicant to include personal information with his/her application. In making decisions about admissions, the Committee will consider personal attributes as well as academic records.

The statement should:

  • Highlight academic and professional achievements, with particular emphasis on the skills acquired and international experiences, that demonstrate interest and capacity to excel in studies of international affairs
  • Explain motivations for graduate study in the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program and Georgetown University
  • Discuss professional goals and objectives
