Statement of Purpose
A 500-700 word typewritten statement of purpose must be included with the application. This is the opportunity for the applicant to include personal information with his/her application. In making decisions about admissions, the Committee will consider personal attributes as well as academic records.
The statement should:
- Highlight academic and professional achievements, with particular emphasis on the skills acquired and international experiences, that demonstrate interest and capacity to excel in studies of international affairs
- Explain motivations for graduate study in the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program and Georgetown University
- Discuss professional goals and objectives

- Adjunct Professor John Walcott Receives First I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence
- Walcott is being honored for leading his team of reporters in their probing, skeptical coverage of events during the run-up to the Iraq war at a time when most U.S. news organizations failed to question the motives and rationale for the invasion of Iraq.
