Georgetown University Vehicle Operations

The purpose of the Georgetown Vehicle Operations Program is to promote the safe operation of University vehicles while minimizing the risk of accidental injuries and financial loss. The policy establishes the basic requirements for obtaining authorization to operate a University vehicle.
Vehicle Operations Policy

- Contact your fleet coordinator to determine if there is a department-specific vehicle policy.
Steps for Becoming an Authorized Driver:
- Complete and provide the following to your department fleet coordinator:
- Georgetown Driver Authorization Application (WORD) (PDF FILLABLE*)
- Kroll MVR Release Form** (WORD) (PDF FILLABLE*)
- A legible copy of your valid U.S. driver's license
- Complete Risk Management's Driver Training or Van Certification program if operating a vehicle is an essential function of your job, or if you operate passenger vans, or tow items on University-related business or sponsored activities.
** Due to security reasons, the states of New Hampshire (complete highlighted sections only), and Washington do not permit access to motor vehicle records. Please click on the applicable link above, complete the form, and send it in addition to the GU MVR Authorization, the Driver Authorization Application and a copy of your valid driver's license.
List of Authorized Drivers:
- Only authorized drivers may operate a University vehicle or golf cart. Drivers of vans must be authorzied and certified. Please contact Risk Management with questions.
After Becoming an Authorized Driver:
- If you are involved in an accident:
- Notify appropriate law enforcement, DPS, and your supervisor
- Complete the Vehicle Accident Report and fax it to Risk Management
- Keep your department fleet coordinator informed of any changes to your license status
